Our Commitment
Womencypedia is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equitable access to all users.
We believe that knowledge about women's contributions should be accessible to everyone, regardless of ability. Our goal is to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
Current Status: Partially Conformant
Womencypedia is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.
Accessibility Features
We have implemented the following accessibility features:
Keyboard Navigation
All interactive elements are accessible via keyboard. Users can navigate using Tab, Enter, and arrow keys.
Screen Reader Support
Our content is compatible with popular screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, and VoiceOver. We use semantic HTML and ARIA labels where appropriate.
Skip Navigation
A "Skip to main content" link is available at the top of each page, allowing keyboard users to bypass navigation menus.

We maintain a minimum color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text, meeting WCAG AA standards.
Dark Mode
A dark mode option is available for users who prefer reduced brightness or have light sensitivity.
Responsive Design
Our website adapts to various screen sizes and zoom levels up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

Images throughout the site include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked appropriately for screen readers.
